Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) on Monday reported total auto sales of 75,901 units in August 2025, registering flat growth compared to the same month last year. Domestic sales stood at 39,399 units, marking a 9 per cent decline year-on-year, against 43,277 units in August 2024. While overall UV sales, including exports, reached 40,846 units.Commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market touched 22,427 units. Exports across categories were recorded at 3,548 units, up 16 per cent over last year, the company said in a statement.Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, said the company moderated wholesale billing in anticipation of GST rate rationalisation. “We look forward to the GST rationalisation, which would be a demand driver through the festive season,” he noted, adding that SUV demand in retail remained relatively robust.In contrast, the farm equipment business delivered strong performance, selling 26,201 tractors in India during August, a 28 per cent rise over last year. Including exports, total tractor sales were at 28,117 units. Veejay Nakra, President – Farm Equipment Business, attributed the growth to above-normal monsoon, improved reservoir levels and continued government support.The trucks and buses business, including SML Isuzu, saw total sales of 1,701 units, reflecting a 9 per cent decline. Heavy rainfall in parts of the country and GST uncertainties weighed on demand.
