Max Verstappen wins the United States Grand Prix! Norris is second ahead of Leclerc. Hamilton lost time at the end but Piastri finishes 1.1 seconds behind him.

Now Bortoleto has passed Gasly as well.

Alpine tell Colapinto to stay behind his team mate but he’s not having any of it and dives past Gasly at turn one.

Colapinto trying to pass Gasly as Verstappen catches them and Bortoleto. In Baku, Gasly used Verstappen to overtake his team mate as they were being lapped.

Norris gets Leclerc at turn 12 and successfully holds him back around the next few turns to finally take hold of second place.

L51 Norris dives down the inside of Leclerc at turn one but the Ferrari driver reverses the move at the exit of the corner.

L47 It’s static at the front but Stroll is closing on Lawson for 11th. Norris is starting to get a little closer to Leclerc but probably not quickly enough to attack him.

L43 Verstappen says he’s suddenly sliding a lot. Leclerc is matching his pace, not catching him at the moment. The pair are separated by just under seven seconds.

Norris has now dropped out of DRS range of Leclerc.

L41 Lambiase to Verstappen: “Lando complaining about tyres now.”

L40 Norris says his “tyres are gone”. Still 16 laps to go.

L37 Norris is within DRS range now. Will the soft tyres give him the extra traction he needs out of the slow corners to be able to attack Leclerc?

It’s a familiar situation for Norris as he’s edging back within DRS range of Leclerc. He’s on the softer tyres but he’s got to make them last a fair distance.

There’s no indication the stewards are looking into that Tsunoda/Bearman incident.

Bearman is all over the back of Tsunoda at turn 15 and spins! Bearman says: “He moved under braking.”

L34 Verstappen pits from the lead and Red Bull give him smooth service. He’s on his way again before Russell arrives for his pit stop. Hulkenberg comes in too.

L33 Norris pits and switches to the softs, he comes out back behind Leclerc again so he will have to overtake the Ferrari a second time.

L32 Hamilton pits and comes out behind Leclerc but as he’s on softs he may be able to attack his team mate soon.

McLaren pit Piastri after he tells them he doesn’t want to risk Russell undercutting him.

L27 Leclerc passes Hulkenberg for eighth place.

Can Leclerc make a one-stop soft-medium strategy work? Pirelli said it was an “unrealistic” strategy. We’ll find out if McLaren think it’s realistic if they bring Norris in in retaliation.

L22 Hamilton works over Leclerc but Ferrari call the leading Ferrari in for medium rubber.

L21 Norris finally breaches Leclerc’s defences and passes him around the outside into turn 12 with DRS. He had to slow down a lot at the exit to avoid running off, however, and Leclerc came back at him at turn 15, to no avail.

L20 Norris goes wide at turn 13 as he tries to pass Leclerc and that’s his third strike for a track limits infringement already. One more and he’ll have a five-second time penalty.

L15 Norris is trying to pass Leclerc again without success.

Russell: “Piastri seems slow.”

L13 Leclerc has fallen four seconds behind Verstappen, Norris is edging back into Leclerc’s DRS window.

McLaren tell Norris they expect to use ‘Plan B’.

L10 Verstappen’s lead is three seconds, Norris 1.7s behind Leclerc.

Piastri: “Concerned about front-left. Doesn’t look or feel great.”

The Sainz-Antonelli collision was promoted Hulkenberg and Alonso into the last two points places.

The Virtual Safety Car period ends and Norris appears to have dropped around a second further back from Leclerc during that interruption.

Antonelli and Sainz have collided, the Williams is stopped at the side of the track and Antonelli has fallen to last. Virtual Safety Car deployed.

L5 This could hardly be going better for Verstappen – Leclerc is holding Norris up so much the Red Bull is already over three seconds up the road.

Leclerc is already struggling on his softs and is defending from Norris. He has to be careful however as Hamilton is stalking him behind.

L3 Tsunoda relieves Bearman of ninth place at turn one.

Sainz dives past Bearman at turn 15, the Haas driver knows better than to try to keep his position by going off the track as he did in the sprint race.

Even with his soft tyres Leclerc is not able to get within DRS range of Verstappen.

L2 Russell lost two places at the start but he’s trying to re-pass Piastri for fifth.

The 2025 United States Grand Prix is go! Verstappen keeps his lead as Leclerc passes Norris for second place.

Verstappen brings the field very slowly around the final corner – he doesn’t want to be sat for too long on the grid.

The field leaves the grid to begin the formation lap. Every driver is on new tyres except Leclerc (soft) and Alonso (medium).

All drivers in the top 15 will start the race on mediums except for Leclerc on softs. Bortoleto and Stroll are also on softs while Ocon, Albon and Hadjar are on hards.

Drama at Racing Bulls as they had to replace Liam Lawson’s rear wing due to damage.

The track temperature is already up to 44C.

The pit lane exit is open for drivers to do their reconnaissance laps.

Here’s the grid for today’s race.

We’ve got four different cars in the top four, as Charles Leclerc is third for Ferrari and George Russell fourth for Mercedes. Both have shown flashes of pace this weekend but no one has been as consistently quick as Verstappen, who looks as uncatchable as he did at Monza.

For the third race in a row at this track, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris share the front row. In last year’s grand prix Norris had pole position but Verstappen passed him at the start and forced him wide, allowing Charles Leclerc into the lead. In yesterday’s sprint race Verstappen kept the lead from pole position and Norris was taken out in a collision with his team mate and two other drivers.

We’re one hour away from the start of the 2025 United States Grand Prix.
