The appropriately named Summit is the top variant for the Jeep Avenger range, adding some more creature comforts to the existing features from the Limited, and coming in with a hefty (for a light SUV) $60,990 asking price.

It has two 10.25-inch screens (the driver display and the multimedia screen), sat-nav, keyless entry and start, intelligent adaptive cruise control and Jeep’s Selec-terrain drive mode system. It also adds lane-centring, traffic jam assist and surround parking sensors.

It also has a two-tone roof, 18-inch wheels, a gloss black seven-slot grille surround, plus leather accented heated seats and electric adjustment with massage function for the driver.

It also gains a sunroof, LED projector headlights and LED tail-lights. The only cost option is premium paint, which is a $990 ask.

Explore the 2024 Jeep Avenger Range

The Summit has the same single-motor, front-wheel-drive electric powertrain with the same 54kWh lithium-ion battery and 115kW/260Nm outputs as the rest of the range, but a shorter driving range (390km instead of 396km) due to its larger wheels.

Under WLTP testing, the Avenger is rated at 15.4kWh/100km for efficiency. It has an 11kW maximum AC charge rate, and a 100kW max DC charge rate.

On DC charging, the Avenger should take about 24 minutes to charge from 20 to 80 per cent, while AC charging at 11kW takes five hours and 34 minutes.

While it doesn’t have an ANCAP rating, the Avenger was tested by Euro NCAP and scored a somewhat disappointing three stars, with low scores in active safety and vulnerable road user protection.

Racing video games, car-spotting on road trips, and helping wash the family VL Calais Turbo as a kid were all early indicators that an interest in cars would stay present in Chris’ life, but loading up his 1990 VW Golf GTI Mk2 and moving from hometown Brisbane to work in automotive publishing in Melbourne ensured cars would be a constant. With a few years as MOTOR Magazine’s first digital journalist under his belt, followed by a stint as a staff journalist for Wheels Magazine, Chris’ career already speaks to a passion for anything with four wheels, especially the 1989 Mazda MX-5 he currently owns. From spending entire weeks dissecting the dynamic abilities of sports cars to weighing up the practical options for car buyers from all walks of life, Chris’ love for writing and talking about cars means if you’ve got a motoring question, he can give you an answer.
