To cater to a population of over one crore in 2055, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) in collaboration with RITES have prepared a comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) for Jaipur.

According to the plan, the city’s future mobility will focus on seven metro railway alignments covering a total distance of 138 km. City bus services, along with cabs, autorickshaws and e-rickshaws, essentially served as last-mile connectivity providers between the metro routes and other areas of the city.

“Routes of private buses or state-run JCTSL buses won’t run parallel to the metro alignments. These routes will connect one metro alignment with the others or from metro alignments to other areas of the city,” said an official.

According to the plan, there will be four metro corridors with seven alignments in all. Besides Phase 1, which would connect 200 Feet Bypass Crossing and Transport Nagar within the next two to three years, and the already announced Phase 2, from Prahladpura in Sitapura to Todi Mod, three new corridors with eight new alignments were expected on Jaipur roads by 2055.

Officials said that by 2055 all city buses will be e-buses of two types, standard and midi. As ancillary services to these metro corridors, it was decided to run standard buses on 10 routes and midi buses on 15 routes.”We have selected 29 routes for e-rickshaws those would complement and act as feeder to these bus/metro services. To ensure smooth traffic flow 10 routes have been proposed to be declared as ‘No E-rickshaw Zones’,” an official said.
