Hyundai Motor India Foundation partners with Gurugram police to transform traffic management

Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), in collaboration with Gurugram Traffic Police, the Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE), and other civic agencies, has launched a comprehensive initiative to overhaul traffic management across 24 major intersections in Gurugram. Work has already begun at two of the busiest junctions, Rajiv Chowk and Shankar Chowk.As part of the initiative, Traffic Engineering Centres (TEC) and Organisation Development Centres (ODC) have been established in traffic towers under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of HMIF. These centres aim to improve road infrastructure, monitor traffic flow, and train police officers, transport engineers, and road safety professionals in scientific and data-driven traffic management techniques.The Traffic Engineering Centre has conducted a detailed scientific audit of the 24 intersections. Using camera feeds from 218 junctions integrated with the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), IRTE engineers are observing traffic movements, violations, and behaviours of vulnerable road users to study congestion patterns and causative factors.The initiative reflects a broader vision of data-driven urban mobility, aiming to reduce accidents, improve commuter experience, and enhance Gurugram’s overall traffic ecosystem through innovation, training, and technology.
