The Honda India Foundation (HIF), the CSR arm of all Honda group companies in India, on Monday said it has launched the Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Programme and ‘Sadak Suraksha Express’, two major initiatives aimed at strengthening road safety awareness and fostering a culture of responsible mobility across the country.Vinay Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation, said, “The Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Programme and Sadak Suraksha Express are designed to engage youth and local communities by providing them the tools and knowledge to promote responsible mobility. By combining structured learning with hands-on, community-focussed activities, these initiatives aim to create a lasting impact”.

What all does it have?

The Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Programme seeks to engage youth as active participants in spreading awareness about safe driving and riding practices. It aligns with Honda’s global vision to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving its motorcycles and automobiles by 2050, and its target to reduce fatalities by 50 per cent by 2030.Under this initiative, each batch of participants will undergo a three-month training programme, comprising 15 days of classroom sessions and 75 days of community-based activities. These ambassadors will educate their families, peers, and communities on traffic rules and responsible behaviour on roads, amplifying awareness at the grassroots level.

The launch event, held at Honda Samajik Vikas Kendra, Naurangpur, was attended by Vinay Dhingra and Katsuyuki Ozawa, Trustees, Honda India Foundation; Rajeev Taneja, Operating Officer, Honda India Foundation; and Prabhu Nagaraj, Operating Officer, Corporate Affairs, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.

Sadak Suraksha Express

In parallel, HIF flagged off the ‘Sadak Suraksha Express’, a mobile road safety awareness van designed to reach rural communities. Equipped with visual demonstrations, local language content, street plays, and storytelling sessions, the van aims to make road safety education engaging and accessible. The initiative will reach diverse groups including farmers, school children, women, teachers, and community leaders — promoting mindfulness and caution on the roads.
