Flipkart doubles EV fleet to 20,000; launches long-haul electric truck pilot

E-commerce major strengthens its green logistics push under the EV100 initiative, with over 70 per cent grocery deliveries now powered by EVs

Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, on Tuesday said it has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) fleet to over 20,000 units, doubling its deployment from last year.

According to the official press release, the milestone marks a major step toward the company’s goal of achieving a 100 per cent electric last-mile fleet by 2030 under The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative.

Hemant Badri, Senior Vice-President, Head of Minutes & Supply Chain, Customer Experience and ReCommerce, Flipkart Group, said that the milestone underscored the company’s focus on a “truly sustainable supply chain,” adding that their new electric truck pilot for long-haul routes is the next frontier.The expanded fleet now operates across major metros and tier-2 cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, reinforcing Flipkart’s commitment to sustainable logistics. Over 70 per cent of grocery deliveries on the platform are currently fulfilled using EVs, reflecting their reliability in high-frequency, short-distance operations while reducing Flipkart’s operational carbon footprint.Flipkart has also launched a long-haul electric truck pilot in partnership with Golden Aero Logistics, using a retrofitted Kalyani electric truck on the Delhi–Jaipur corridor. The pilot aims to assess EV feasibility for medium-distance freight in terms of performance, efficiency, and turnaround time.
