Kumaraswamy said two-wheelers continue to drive mass adoption.

Union minister HD Kumaraswamy Saturday said India’s electric vehicle (EV) market has grown at over 60 per cent annually in the past six years, with registrations nearing 2 million units in financial year 2024-25.

Addressing an EV expo here, he said two-wheelers continue to drive mass adoption, while electric passenger vehicles, buses and commercial fleets are expanding steadily.

He added that India’s Net Zero 2070 target is being backed by Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

Kumaraswamy highlighted the impact of ₹11,500-crore FAME-II scheme, which has supported over 16.7 lakh EVs and sanctioned more than 9,000 public charging stations.

Bengaluru well placed to emerge as global hub, says minister

Saying mobility will increasingly be driven by connected and data-based systems, the minister said Karnataka, particularly Bengaluru, is well placed to emerge as a global hub for electric mobility innovation and manufacturing.
