Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar was fast emerging as the country’s electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing capital, backed by large-scale investments and strategic infrastructure projects.
Speaking at the Marathwada Liberation Day event, Fadnavis said the region’s connectivity through the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi highway and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) had made it a preferred destination for industries. “Many big industries are leaving other states to invest in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar,” he noted as per Times of India.
Key developments
He highlighted that the Aurangabad Industrial City (Auric), a greenfield industrial area at Shendra-Bidkin developed as part of the DMIC, had already attracted potential investments worth over ₹71,000 crore in six years. Several leading EV manufacturers have set up operations at Auric, which is expected to create more than 62,000 direct and indirect jobs. On the water crisis in Marathwada, Fadnavis announced a series of diversion projects to be rolled out within the next six months. Detailed project reports are expected by December, followed by tenders in January–February 2026. The plan includes bringing Krishna basin water to Marathwada and diverting 54 TMC from the Ulhas river basin. “Therefore, the drought in Marathwada should be a thing of the past,” he said. Refuting claims that the last cabinet meeting for Marathwada yielded no results, the CM listed approvals and allocations, including ₹61 crore for Grishneshwar temple, ₹541 crore for Tuljabhavani temple, development of Aundha Nagnath temple, new anganwadis, self-help groups, and ₹3,121 crore worth of road works.
During his visit, Fadnavis also launched the Mukhyamantri Samruddha Panchayat Raj Abhiyan at Kingao village in Phulambri taluka. The campaign seeks to convert 28,000 gram panchayats and 40,000 villages into model villages, ensuring universal access to state and central welfare schemes.
