At least 35 children die in crowd crush at school fair in Nigeria – video

The fair, which was organised at a high school in Idaban, Oyo state, by a local radio station and the charity Wings Foundation, was said to be expecting as many as 5,000 young people to attend. The programme said children would ‘win exciting prizes like scholarships and other bountiful gifts’. A homicide investigation has been opened and several people, including the main sponsor of the event, have been arrested
