This session has finished. No further updates will be posted.

That concludes our coverage of final practice with the McLaren drivers still on top. Here’s the session report.

Williams told Sainz to stay out as they got their telemetry back.

Sainz is told to pit: “We have lost telemetry.” However it seems he can’t hear his team.

Norris has a big moment on the way into the final corner, touching the grass on the way in and catching a huge snap. Piastri did a similar mistake earlier.

Lewis Hamilton, eighth, goes fastest of all in the first sector and improves to sixth place.

Verstappen will be investigated after the session for that incident.

Verstappen has been noted for a potential incident at turn three. He appears to have thrown something from the cockpit of his car – it looks like a towel.

Norris abandoned his first run, then nailed the second with a 1’15.624.

Piastri sets the quickest time of the session so far with a 1’15.915 which is just under seven tenths of a second off last year’s pole position time.

Nico Hulkenberg finds eight tenths of a second to go fourth.

Lance Stroll goes quickest with a 1’16.221. He has tended to find much less time from practice to qualifying than many drivers in recent races, suggesting he runs close to qualifying fuel levels and settings on Fridays.

Carlos Sainz Jnr puts on the softs and cuts eight tenths of a second off his time to go third.

Second practice is much like the first so far in that the focus is on the McLaren drivers swapping fastest times. Norris has gone top again with a best of 1’16.525.

Oscar Piastri takes the top time off Norris with a 1’16.697, two-tenths of a second up on Norris.

An encouraging lap for Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the Mercedes who goes second. He’s looked less confident since Mercedes introduced its new suspension but the team has gone back to the older specification this weekend.

Norris returns to the top with a 1’16.916. Only the Alpines not on track at the moment.

Charles Leclerc takes the top time with a 1’17.181 on mediums, the times still over a second off the best seen earlier today on softs.

Lots of drivers running the medium tyre compound again in this session so it looks like they’ll be favouring the hards for the grand prix.

Second practice is go and George Russell leads the times to begin with on a 1’17.442, Isack Hadjar well up again in second.

Fernando Alonso missed the first session in order to aid his recovery from an injury to his back muscles but the team say he will be back in the car for second practice. Nico Hulkenberg is also due to drive his car again which Paul Aron had in the first session.

Lando Norris was fastest in the first session with a time of 1’16.052 – just eight tenths of a second off last year’s pole position time.

Second practice for the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix is coming up next.
