A green hydrogen hub project is being set up in 1,200 acres in Pudimadaka in Anakapalle district with an investment of Rs 1.85 lakh crore in partnership with NTPC and Nredcap.

Energy minister Gottipati Ravikumar has set a target to export about 3,000 tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030 and added that Andhra Pradesh will soon become green energy hub in the country.

Speaking dueing a discussion on energy sector in the assembly, Gottipati said that the TDP was the first party to implement power reforms in the country. He explained that it was AP that first brought ERC as part of the electricity reforms and added that steps are being taken to further strengthen the renewable energy sector in the state under the leadership of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. He said that a green hydrogen hub project is being set up in 1,200 acres in Pudimadaka in Anakapalle district with an investment of Rs 1.85 lakh crore in partnership with NTPC and Nredcap.

He said reliance is setting up 500 compressed biogas (CBG) plants in the state and added that the construction of CBG plants will further benefit farmers in the state. The minister informed that they have also signed an MoU with Tata Renewable Energy Limited under the leadership of IT minister Nara Lokesh. He said TREL will make an investment of Rs 49,000 crore in green energy projects and added that 7000 MW of renewable energy will be generated through the proposed projects.

“Battery storage system is being introduced in the state for the first time. About 55 substations are being constructed across the state to provide quality electricity to the consumers as electricity consumption in the state is increasing by 6 percent every year. We have readied plans to increase generation to meet the growing demand,” he said. He added that the coalition govt has not increased electricity charges by a single rupee. Stating that AP genco has set new records in generation of power, he said that they reduced electricity purchases by 60%. Similarly, the govt is providing quality electricity to farmers through the PM Kusum scheme, he said.

Gottipatisaid that he has requested the Centre to provide a total of 4.5 lakh PM Kusum agricultural electricity connections. He said that the YSRCP govt increased electricity charges nine times in its five-year rule and imposed unbearable burden on people. YSRCP govt did not give even a drop of water to a single acre through lift irrigation. It destroyed the power sector, the minister said.
