The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made it compulsory for all vehicle owners and driving licence holders to link or update their mobile numbers with Aadhaar. The step is aimed at ensuring access to transport-related services through digital platforms.According to the ministry, SMS alerts from the ‘Parivahan’ portal are being sent to citizens requesting Aadhaar verification for linking or updating mobile numbers with driving licences (DLs) and vehicle registration certificates (RCs).

The ministry stated that the verification process is necessary to access traffic violation notices, e-challans, vehicle registrations, renewals, driving licence updates, and sale-related information. Linking Aadhaar and mobile numbers is intended to improve accuracy in communication and facilitate delivery of services.Vehicle owners and DL holders are advised to visit the official Parivahan or Sarathi portals to complete the process. The ministry has cautioned that incorrect or incomplete submissions could restrict access to services.
